POEM-A-S
EL ARBOL
Lunas que pasan lentamente
Noches tibias en que se plantan árboles
Y se conciben hijos
Buena compañía nos da el árbol
Su sombra, flor y fruto
El papel en que escribimos
Y el libro que leemos
Buena compañía
(Empezamos a estar solos
Cuando dejamos de creer
En la posibilidad del árbol)
....
THE TREE
Slow Moons go by
Warm evenings when trees are planted
And children are conceived
Good company be the tree
Its shade, flower and fruit
The paper on which we write
And the book we read
Good company
(We begin to be lonely
Once we stop believing
In the tree)
....
EL LIBRO
Escribirlo letra a letra
Con la mano derecha, con la izquierda
Con ambos ojos de ser posible
De día y de noche
Con el corazón, con el cerebro
Antes de escribirlo
Atravesar el océano del tiempo
Después, ¿sabremos dónde quedan nuestros huesos?
¿Terminan en arena?
En silencio exhumamos recuerdos, sombras, húmeros
Lamemos la sangre. Leemos el libro
Lo cerramos.
...
THE BOOK
Write it letter by letter
With your right or left hand
With both eyes if possible
Day and night
With your heart, your brain
Before writing it
You must cross the time ocean
Afterwards, do we know where our bones will be?
Will they end up in sand?
Silently we exhume memories, shadows, shoulder bones
We lap the blood. We read the book.
We close it.

Soplan vientos feroces
¿Quién pregona los nombres de la muerte?
...
THE NAMES
Clouds of stars on a cloudless sky
Sand grains
How many are one thousand names?
In Falujah, six hundred or six thousand
In Darfur, a million
Voiceless
Where is their heart?
Which hand pulled them from the tree of life?
From city to city, from cloud to cloud
Ferocious winds sweep the land
Who shall proclaim the names of Death ?

LA PIEL
Suave, maleable, perfumada
Se ajusta como un guante
A los deseos
Al doblarse no se rompe:
Da de sí
Piel de recién nacido:
Página en blanco
Piel materna, fraternal
Piel amiga
Obra iniciada, camino no seguido
Piel amante, piel abandonada
Se ajusta como un guante
Al esqueleto
Ahora, con la edad, se resquebraja
Cae en pedazos la corteza
Sobre la que, sin pensar, hemos tatuado
Nuestra vida. ...
...
THE SKIN
Soft, malleable, perfumed
Adjustable like a glove
To our wishes
Folded, it doesn’t break
But stretches
New-born skin:
White page
Motherly, sisterly
Friendly skin
The work begun, the road not followed
Loved skin, abandoned
Glove-like to the bones
Now, with age, it breaks
It falls in pieces.
Bark on which, without thinking
We’ve been tattooing our life.
